Hey, for people who are interested, I have a TeamSpeak server online for PONG.

Quick connect info (full tutorial below):

    Server: bres-server.ath.cx:8767
    Nickname: *Your nickname/handle*
    Username: Leave blank
    Password: 12321

    Full tutorial:

To connect to it, you need the TeamSpeak client installed. To download the client, go to www.teamspeak.com and click download. Make sure you download the Client installer and not the Server installer (the Client for Windows is the first file in the list).

Once the client is installed, you need to connect. To do this, open the program, click the "Connect" menu, and select "Quick Connect". This will open a window with 4 fields, Server, Nickname, Username, and Password. Put the following into the corresponding fields:
    Server: bres-server.ath.cx:8767
    Nickname: *Your nickname/handle*
Username: Leave this field blank for now
    Password: 12321
    Click Connect

This should connect you to the server. You will connect as an Unregistered user until I give you the authority to register yourself with the server. I will let you know once I have done this. To register, click Self, then Register With Server. This will open a window. Fill out the information required (its only 3 things if I remember, Username, Password, Repeat Password). You create your own password here, do not use "12321".

From now on, when you connect, the Server and Nickname fields above remain the same, but you put in the Username and Password you created. Please, make your username the same as your handle in PONG so I can tell which account belongs to who. I dont care what you put for your nickname.

Now, for the Channels. There are currently 4 channels, General Chat (which is the default channel that you connect to), Silence Channel (which is where you go if you want to use the text chat to communicate with people who are connected), TrackMania (guess what this channel is for), and AFK Channel (go here if you are going AFK but still want to recieve text messages).

Registered users have the ability to create subchannels in either the General Chat or TrackMania channel for groups or specific topics. However, if I see a empty subchannel, I will delete it. You can recreate it, but if it is a channel you want to remain permanent, let me know, and I will see what I can do, either creating a new main channel or making a note to leave that subchannel.

If people have ideas for channels or anything else in TeamSpeak, feel free to post below. If I make the change depends on what change it is, if people are going to use the change, or if it is even possible to do.

Also, as I said above, I plan to keep this server online for 1 week before and after the LAN, and during the LAN. Depending on how much it is used and what people think of it will determine if I keep it online permanently, just for LAN parties, or not at all. It takes no resources on my end, so I don't care either way. I just want to make communication between gamers easier, whether they are in the same room, to different buildings, or not on campus at all.

Please, leave any feedback on the server or ideas for the server below. Be honest, do you think something like this will be used? Give it a try with a group sometime during the week before of after the lan party, see if it is something you like. It does make communication easier when playing a game.

    Update for everyone.

Even though no one has widely used the TeamSpeak server, I am still hosting it. I have a server in my room for the main purpose as a print server, but it has enough power for TeamSpeak, so I left it running.

However, the Server address has changed. The new server address is bres-server.ath.cx:8767. The rest of the fields are the same.

Also, since there are some people who are unable to make it to the meetings but want to stay filled in (and we know that IRC is not a good way to do this), I can get a 2nd server online for just the pong meetings. It wouldn't be that hard to set up, especially since everyone already brings their laptops. I have worked it out to the point where we will not get any feedback what-so-ever, so long as people are not stupid.

Just wanted to throw that out there. If people are not interested, no problem. I just know that some people want to be involved with the meetings, but cant make it for several different reasons, and that the moment we include IRC, things fall apart.

Or people think you are long, and boring. Or they think that you think they are completely retarded and figure something as simple as teamspeak out for themselves.

I like to make sure that everything I have set up is easy for everyone to use. I did change the original post to have the quick info first for people who know how to use TS and the full info for people who don't quite know how to use TS.

Just because you know how to use something doesn't mean that everyone does.

    Ventrilo costs money. Teamspeak doesnt.

EDIT: Ventrilo is free for 8 or less clients. I am going to work on setting up the free client, just since everyone apparently wants to use that instead.

Never said we want to use it. We, along with nearly everyone else in this world, just use Vent.
