PONG now has an IRC server! Just connect to pong.uwstout.edu on port 6667 with your favorite irc client to join in. Main channel is #PONG .
whats a good free irc?
XChat.
mIRC is what I use. Pidgin works too.
chatzilla if you're a firefox user
colloquy for mac is awesome
BUMP!
We have a web-based irc client:
http://pong.uwstout.edu/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgi
for those of you who don't have a standalone client.
Bump.
More people is a must!!! This is the fastest way to talk to your fellow PONG'ers and to get questions answered fast! Most of the time it's just Fragmeister and I, but later on in the evening there are more people on.
Come on in the channel and chill with us!
I made a little modification to the who's online extension so that it now shows how many people (approximately) are on irc. Please let me know if it seems to be causing any problems with the forum at all.
That client is pretty cool.
People count doesn't seem to change ever. It's been at 3 all day.
It's a feature
Seems to change now, but it looks like it's counting an extra person that isn't there. Just something I noticed.
bump
we need more people on irc!
lol, I agree. I check in every once and a while and no one is ever on!
cow.
you just have to stay on for long enough, I only check from time to time, when I'm not busy :/
It's either always Frag, x, or me on there. We need moar.
Consider me a more permanent addition - mostly.
All right I'll add it to my pidgin.
Do any of you guys use this with pidgin? I have the account added but not sure how to use it....
EDIT- nevermind i just needed to join the channel.
</irc nubbery>
Pidgin's built in IRC client is extremely...lacking.
irssi
Yeah well, I don't really need IRC on a daily basis, just wanted a client without having to download and install anything. Seems to be working so far.
chatzilla!
I really really wish digsby had an irc client in it, it has everything else besides that.
*BUMP*
IRC DOWNNNNNNNN
I need to figure out how to get the server to autostart it -- ubuntu was retarded and didn't include unreal in their repos :(
Figure it out, Linux boy.
IRC?
IRC DOWN AGAIN. FUCK.
GET IN IRC NAO!!!!
IRC max is set too low - tried to join and the room was "full"
Can we get a fix on this?
as much as i hate to admit it i'm an IRC newb lol but i do creep around bash.org regularly :P
how does that web based one work? i tried logging in but i got
-OperServ- The session limit for your host localhost has been exceeded.
*** Closing Link virta[localhost] services.pong.uwstout.edu (Killed (OperServ (Session limit exceeded)))
*** Disconnected from IRC (click to reconnect)
the web client sucks ass -- I changed it to a new one that's java-based now, so we shouldn't have these problems now. http://pong.uwstout.edu/pjirc/
it took me a while, but for the people who are new and want to start chatting, can you guys put up some directions on exactly what to do if you have a client, or if using chatzilla
PJIRC -
To connect to the pong channel using the pjirc client, simply type "/join #pong".
To change your name once you've joined the channel, type "/nick whatever".
(without the quotes)
Chatzilla -
Here is a quick and dirty way to get connected to the pong channel using Chatzilla:
In the Chatzilla client click Chatzilla, the open Preferences.
Click Global Settings, then open the Startup tab.
Under Auto-connect URLs, click Add.
Then add irc://pong.uwstout.edu:6667 and irc://pong.uwstout.edu/pong
After that, you should automatically connect to the pong chatroom every time you open Chatzilla.
FYI: on PJIRC, I get "Unable to connect : java.net.ConnectException : Connection refused: connect "
Anybody know if there is a good IRC client for the iPhone?
yes, irchon or something like that
IRC HAS BEEN SEVERELY LACKING LATELY. CHANGE THAT, PONGERS.
GET IN HERE NAO!
